This is a portion of what is an even worse story at Chess In The Schools. You should link the NY Post articles (Charity Queen and Chess-School Kids Rooked).

They've gone from 50 instructors in 2001 to 15 today, while raising salaries for an enormous, bloated admin staff included Marley Kaplan herself who makes over $230,000 a year.

Worse they take the air out of the sails for other Chess charities. They service less than 1 % of NYC schools, yet dominate all the fundraising.
