We think that the VillageReach model has worked in one place at one time, and is likely to work again under the conditions that VillageReach plans to execute it.  That's very different from saying that it will work wherever (and by whomever) it is implemented – in fact, as we observe above, the first attempt to have the local government implement the VillageReach model appears to have failed.

This doesn't mean it's necessarily a bad thing for VillageReach to engage in advocacy.  But we feel this is not the area where it has proven itself, and therefore we'd hope to see the expenses allocated to this area remain fairly limited until there's more of a track record to go off of.</description>

					<description>Given GiveWell's mission/activities, isn't it a little bit ironic that you don't consider advocacy one of your priorities? If they have a model that works/is working (which I don't entirely understand, but from your analysis it seems like you think they do), wouldn't advocating that others pick it up and use it be a worthwhile goal?</description>
